It’s that time of year again! As the World Series of Poker rolls around for its annual events in Las Vegas, it also marks the beginning of the Poker Hall of Fame nominations and round of finalists. The two-week nomination period has come to and now we know who is up for the one available inductee spot.
The final ten nominees will be reviewed by the 32 living Poker Hall of Fame members who will vote to see who the next inductee will be. Several newbies are on the list this year as well as old names.
Poker Hall of Fame Finalists
After the nomination period, the following ten people found themselves on the 2022 Poker Hall of Fame list for consideration:
- Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier
- Brian Rast
- Isai Scheinberg
- Josh Arieh
- Kathy Liebert
- Layne Flack
- Lon McEachern & Norman Chad
- Mike Matusow
- Michael Mizrachi
- Matt Savage
The induction ceremony will take place on July 10, the same time as the Main Event sees the final table get down to business at Bally’s & Paris Las Vegas. Each of the living Poker Hall of Fame members are invited to take part in a special no-limit hold’em tournament. The $1,979 buy-in of the event was priced to honor the founding year of the Hall of Fame. ?
The event is open to all players to free for Poker Hall of Fame members. Each Hall of Famer will have a bounty that is priced based on the year they were inducted. Players who eliminate the members will add a bit of prize money to their overall total. The new inductee will be named during the event. It will certainly be interesting to see who the next individual will be that joins this prestigious group!
More on the Poker Hall of Fame
In 1979, the Poker Hall of Fame was established. It was acquired by Harrah’s Entertainment when it took on the World Series of Poker back in 2004. The virtual group includes the most influential players in poker as well as contributors to the game.
A total of 59 members have been added to the group with 32 members still living and taking part in the addition of new members each year. In general, the group adds one to two members each year based on those nominated.
The naming of the latest inductee always takes place at the same time as the flagship tournament of the World Series Of Poker, the Main Event.
