The Tioga Downs Casino Racing & Entertainment facility located in New York State will be able to move forward with plans to become a fully operational commercial casino after gaining approval from the New York Gaming Facility Location Board. Last October, a report was issued by the board, containing 267 pages that recommended the venue for the fourth license for casino gaming of the state, which was also the only remaining license available.
Earlier this week, a tweet was sent out by the New York State Gaming Commission that announced the board had decided to formally adopt the report. Jeff Gural’s Tioga Downs Casino Racing & Entertainment venue now has the option to offer even more gaming activities. The casino has proposed a gaming facility that would have 33,000 square feet of gaming space and would include 50 gaming tables and 1,000 slot machines.
The venue would also add hotel rooms, several restaurants and lounge spaces, a spa and venue for outdoor concerts. The plans include a new clubhouse for the Tioga Country Club as well. The operator has estimated the plans will create over 1,000 jobs with the new additions.
The Gaming Commission will now need to issue a gaming license to the venue, with a decision on this expected later on this year. The additional three casino projects in the state, a casino in the Catskills, casino in Schenectady and the Lago Resort & Casino of Seneca County, have already received their licenses from the Commission.
