Sands Cotai Central in Macau, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, has gained its fourth hotel as St. Regis Hotels & Resorts, part of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc., has announced the long-awaited debut of the St. Regis Macao.

The hotel, owned by Sands China Ltd. affiliate, Venetian Orient Limited, adds 400 luxury rooms and suites to the Macau resort’s already vast inventory, which includes the 4,001-room Sheraton Macao. The hotel’s grand design, culinary venues, and signature butler service, all hallmarks of the St. Regis brand’s legacy, is set to elevate the luxurious hospitality landscape of the?peninsula. The hotel’s opening makes it the brand’s seventh hotel in Greater China. Still to come, in 2016 five new St. Regis hotels will be unveiled to be located in Kuala Lumpur and Langkawi in Malaysia, the Maldives, Changsha in China and Cairo, Egypt, according to Incentive Travel.

Adelson, chairman and chief executive officer of Las Vegas Sands Corp. and Sands China Ltd, were pleased with the collaboration that they say will further set Macau apart from other destinations and enhance Macau’s ability to attract tourists as well as business travelers.

Positioned within the coveted Cotai Strip, the St. Regis Macao’s opening is the brand’s largest hotel. It is a fully-integrated resort destination, which offers entertainment facilities as well as access to more than 600 designer boutiques, and a wide-array of dining experiences from high-end cosmopolitan to bistro-style, as well as the Iridium Spa and the signature St. Regis Bar.

The hotel offers visitors a front row seat to events such as the Macau Grand Prix and the International Fireworks Competition, both held annually. There are also several 18-hole international championship golf courses to choose from. St. Regis Macao’s visitors can reach Hong Kong International Airport within 60 minutes by ferry or just 15 minutes by helicopter, while both the Taipa Ferry Terminal and Macau International Airport are less than 10 minutes away.

Liberal visa requirements as well as financial support for delegates from the Government of Macau, has made Macao’s Convention and Exhibition Industry (MICE) second to none. The St. Regis Macao features venues such as the Astor Grand Ballroom, with seating for 300. Catering to a ranges of private events there are five smaller meeting rooms with floor-to-ceiling windows, two boardrooms, and an exclusive VIP meeting room. All of which connect to the hotel’s sister property, the Sheraton Macao Hotel.
