This year, Macau will host a Global Gaming Expo (G2E) Asia in-person casino trade event. It will mark the first casino event to follow the 2019 show and the cancellations of 2020-2022 editions due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

G2E Asia 2023:

Organizers announced that the G2E Asia brand will be first installed in Singapore at Marina Bay Sands, a casino resort operated by Las Vegas Sands Corp. Macau is scheduled to follow already in July to host the event “Asian IR Expo + G2E Asia 2023,”?which will be held from July 11 to 13, at the Venetian Macao run by Sands China Ltd, a vertical of Las Vegas Sands.

The G2E Asia event, organized by the American Gaming Association and Reed Exhibitions, was annually held in Macau from 2007 to 2019. Due to the coronavirus outbreak, the 2020 show was postponed three times to be eventually canceled against the continuous travel and commercial restrictions staying in force until the recent news of the more flexible Macau and mainland China’s respective controls on arrivals from overseas.

Events focused on gaming and economy:

According to GGRAsia, the event organizers said the Singapore event was for “gaming professionals to network and conduct business, and the content will be focused on gaming”. As for the Macau gathering, the organizers explained that “the focus will be on integrated resorts with [the] profile extended beyond gaming”. The statement of the American Gaming Association and Reed Exhibitions reads:

“This will be an invaluable platform to drive business diversification and get expert insights on Macau’s latest economic development,” added the announcement. The events running in Singapore and Macau could perfectly serve the needs of the gaming and non-gaming sectors in Asia. The Singapore event in May falls nicely in the global gaming event calendar, and allows our customers to go back to their normal routine of attending all the major global gaming events.”?

Supporting business diversification:

The organizers also stated that the July event in Macau would “bring tourism and entertainment products beyond gaming, to Macau and support business diversification.”?They anticipated that conference and networking activities be run alongside the two events, and offered more details on the G2E Asia website where the details will be shared as they become available.

The event follows the re-opening:

The first post-2019 event in the region was held in Singapore in 2022. A G2E Asia brand “Special Edition: Singapore” was also organized by the American Gaming Association and Reed Exhibitions to announce the end of the extended period of travel restrictions across the Asia-Pacific region. This year, Macau followed to successfully re-open its gambling facilities and wait to host the “Asian IR Expo + G2E Asia 2023” in July.
