In the Philippines and the Clark Freeport Zone of northern Luzon is now reportedly home to six casinos following yesterday’s soft launch of gaming operations inside the D’Heights Resort and Casino.
Future expansion:
According to a report from a local newspaper, this new facility has been opened by Dong Huang Clark Corporation at a cost of approximately $250 million and initially features some 576 slots and 50 gaming tables alongside the D’Heights Club high-limit VIP and junket area. This initial allocation is purportedly expected to be joined by around 100 additional gaming tables in October when the venue begins welcoming guests to its 310-room Hilton and Hyatt Regency hotels.
Additional amenities:
The newspaper cited Albert Pascual, Business Development Manager for D’Heights Resort and Casino, as detailing that the 763-acre Philippines development also has plans to subsequently open an indoor water park alongside the seven-tower Monterey’s Lake attraction featuring 15-story condominiums, restaurants, a 36-hole golf course, duty-free shops and an international school.
Considerable competition:
BusinessMirror reported that the Clark Freeport Zone was once home to a United States Air Force base and is located approximately 50 miles north of metropolitan Manila with its population of almost 23 million people. It moreover purportedly explained that the business-friendly zone near to the city of Angeles had already featured the Royce Hotel and Casino, the Midori Clark Hotel and Casino, the Widus Hotel and Casino Clark, the Casino Filipino Mimosa and the Hotel Stotsenberg’s recently-opened Casablanca Casino.
South Korean concern:
For its part, GGRAsia used a subsequent report to clarify that Dong Huang Clark Corporation is controlled by South Korean real estate magnate Lee Shin-Kun and that its D’Heights Resort and Casino could eventually end up employing about 5,000 people.
