At the beginning of this month, the Alter City Group got the nod from the Tinian Casino Control Commission for a casino license. The Macau based group is going to build the?$1.2 billion Plumeria Golf & Casino Resort?on the island, which is part of the Northern Marianas. In the meantime the company is considering managing a temporary casino on Tinian while they are waiting for the completion of the billion dollar project.

After being awarded the casino license, Ken Lin, the managing director of Alter City Group, told media that they want to explore options such as building a temporary casino on Tinian and get the gambling industry back again.

However, according to the Saipan Tribune, this requires changes to the current Tinian Gaming Act. The existing regulations are pretty clear about the requirement of a casino operating in a casino resort having a specified number of rooms and limiting the casino gaming activities to certain areas.

The Alter City resort which is going to be built on Titan is expected to be a world class casino resort with villas, a theme park and luxury shops including 5,000 hotel rooms. The construction area will occupy 63 hectares.
